The Tamaki Transformation Programme has published a resource, Shaping Tamaki's Future Together:  A Transformational Approach.

This resource is for those who want to explore a new way of working with communities, and across organisations, and learn some tools to support them along the way.  It offers snapshots of work undertaken during the Tamaki Transformation Programme's two year foundation period as it evolves new approaches to bring together residents and groups from across community, government and private sectors, in service of common goals.

Prime Minister visit supports Tamaki Transformation Programme

It was the kaumatua of Ruapotaka Marae who welcomed the Prime Minister and other Government Ministers to Tamaki on 2 July 2009.  Ruapotaka Marae is seen by many in Glen Innes and Pt England as being the 'heart and gateway' to those communities of Tamaki. The presence and leadership of mana whenua - Ngati Whatua Orakei and Ngati Paoa - added their mana to the proceedings, and showed their concern for and commitment to the communities of Tamaki.

So the Marae was a fitting place for those invited to discuss the recently launched $52 million first phase of Tamaki Transformation - an exciting urban renewal programme - with Prime Minister John Key during his visit to the area.

A wonderful example of a collaborative, community-based approach where local community is in the driver’s seat is a community-based health promotion initiative in Tamaki, Auckland. This community has been involved every step of the way in the development of this initiative, from identifying community health needs and how they might be met, to naming the initiative.
