"Taking down the fences between sectors has benefited all parties and increased the chance of sustainable results through community ownership and collaboration"

Inspiring Communities works with a Core Learning Cluster of eight initiatives located around Aotearoa. These diverse initiatives have started for a range of reasons and with various forms of initial leadership. They are in different phases of the community-led journey and have different areas of key focus, resourcing and goals.  (For example, Opotiki's focus is local government, Iwi and business working together on local economic development. Great Start Taita began from a large NGO wanting to find out what mattered most to people living in a local community).

What they share in common is the wish to intentionally learn, adapt, develop and achieve their goals, working with Inspiring Communities' community-led development framework. Together we aim to:

  • Actively share and learn together
  • Intentionally test out the community-led development framework
  • Develop creative approaches for effective community-led developmen
  • Help create the conditions for change in these communities
  • Share information and build knowledge
  • Document the journies of each community and contribute to a shared national knowledge base.
